Sara Ficks, PMHNP

Sara is a Board-Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with experience across inpatient, outpatient, residential, and emergency room crisis settings. This experience shapes the perspective she brings to patients she treats.

Sara earned a Bachelor of Science in Health Science, with a minor in Molecular and Cellular Biology, from the University of Connecticut, followed by a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Fairfield University. She completed a Master of Science in Nursing at George Washington University, specializing as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, and graduated Summa Cum Laude.

Sara works with adolescents and adults, providing medication management for conditions including depression, anxiety, ADHD, mood disorders, personality disorders, and trauma. Sara’s clinical philosophy centers on understanding each individual patient. She combines therapy with medication management in her approach to care. She considers each patient’s medical history, family history, and personal context, and involves patients and, when appropriate, their families in developing each treatment plan.

Sara is a member of several professional organizations, including Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, the American Psychiatric Nurses Association, and the Nurse Practitioner Association of Washington, DC.
