Patricia Stark, LCSW
Patricia earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Fairfield University and her Master’s in Social Work from Columbia University. She has over 30 years of experience working with children and adolescents. Patricia has spent the majority of her career as a social worker in the public school system. Her career has been devoted to supporting children from kindergarten through grade 12, addressing their diverse social, emotional, and academic needs.
She has significant expertise in special education, enabling her to effectively advocate for and support students with various learning styles. She also has experience providing therapy in mental health agencies and private practices with adults, adolescents, children and families. Her considerable experience has provided her with a deep understanding of child development, family dynamics, and the challenges faced by students within the educational system. Patricia has worked extensively with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, self-destructive behaviors, substance abuse, attention deficit disorder and learning disabilities.
As a therapist, Patricia believes in creating a safe space where she can foster a strong therapeutic alliance built on trust, empathy, and genuine connection. Utilizing a developmental lens, she understands that each child and teen has unique needs and experiences that shape their perspectives. She integrates age-appropriate treatment modalities, such as play therapy, cognitive behavioral techniques, and interpersonal therapy to help develop coping strategies, build resilience, and navigate the challenges of their formative years, ultimately supporting their journey toward emotional well-being.
